Trainer Ciaran Murphy is hopeful Castleheath will be competitive in the opening PSIL Property Maintenance Supporting Kill GAA Rated Hurdle at Naas, as he bids to add to a recent win.

The 122-rated son of Elzaam scored on his second hurdles start at Punchestown last month and today faces six opponents in a race which is traditionally a trial for the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival.

Murphy reports "we do like him and we think he will have come forward from the last day, experience-wise.

"It is a hot race, but I mean he has put himself in that picture now to go novice hurdling. He will run a nice race and I think he will fit in fine into that race. This will tell us where the next step is."
