Murphy jailed for assaulting stewardess Leading jump jockey Timmy Murphy was today jailed for six months for indecently assaulting a flight attendant and being drunk on board an aircraft.The 27-year-old, from Faringdon, Oxfordshire pleaded guilty to the two offences when he appeared at Isleworth Crown Court in west London.Murphy, who has a partner and young child, was jailed for six months for assaulting the air stewardess on the Virgin flight from Toyko to Heathrow on April 14 this year and three months for being drunk on board the aircraft. The sentences are to run concurrently.Judge John Crocker also ordered the jockey to remain on the sex offenders' register for the next five years.Murphy, who enjoyed a fruitful spell as stable jockey to Paul Nicholls, recordedhis best season to date in 2001/2 when notching up 98 winners.His big-race wins included victories on Ever Blessed in the 1999 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup, See More Business in the 1998 Pillar Property Chase and the Rehearsal Chase, and Terao in the Mildmay Of Flete Handicap Chase in 1997.Murphy has also tasted success at Aintree, finishing second in the 2001 Martell Grand National on Smarty - where he was one of only four horses to complete the Aintree marathon in appalling ground conditions - as well as winning the Martell Maghull Novices Chase on Armaturk for Nicholls last season.
