Murphy team eye more Gold for White Birch White Birch is set to defend the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup in the Curragh this month after being pipped by a neck on seasonal reappearance in the Mooresbridge Stakes at the same track. John Murphy's five-year-old colt kept on well to keep the winner Los Angeles more than honest in that Group 2 over a mile and two furlongs, and a long-term plan involving a possible tilt at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Arc in France has been mapped out. Assistant trainer George Murphy said: "He came out of the race very well, so we're looking forward to getting him out again in the Tattersalls Gold Cup in three weeks. "It was good ground at the Curragh the last day, he ran a lovely race and now has very good runs on all sorts of ground. "He has been very good this year and we're looking forward to him running again. "After the Tattersalls Gold Cup, we are thinking about maybe going to Royal Ascot for the Prince Of Wales's Stakes and the Arc at the end of the year would be an ultimate aim. There is plenty water to pass under the bridge before then though." White Birch beat Auguste Rodin by three lengths in last season's Tattersalls Gold Cup. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
