Johnny Murtagh enjoyed a treble in Cork this evening when Darius Dark (11/2) rattled home in the concluding handicap over an extended mile-and-a-half.

Despite looking held, he got into a good rhythm for Rory Mulligan and they ran on well to lead inside the final furlong. Darius Dark wasn't for stopping and went through the line half a length up on Nod Of Approval (11/2). Yousaynothingatall the 9/4 favourite, was a neck away in third.

Murtagh said: "I am pleasantly surprised as he is a big horse, so I thought it would be a slow process with him. Rory said that when they quickened today he got outpaced, but going that 1m4f distance really suits.

"He is by Dark Angel, but there is stamina on the dam-sire and Pat Colville (Newtown Anner Stud's racing manager) reminded me that he is from a good family."

This was Darius Dark's handicap debut and he was markedly up in trip.

Murtagh's other winners were Tashakour (5/4f) and Final Voyage (10/1) ridden by Ben Coen and Jessica Maye respectively.
