Murtagh to appeal Epsom ban Johnny Murtagh has decided to appeal against the suspension he incurred when riding at Epsom on Friday. Murtagh was given a five-day ban (June 19-23) after being found guilty of careless riding aboard Frozen Fire in the Coronation Cup, meaning he would miss the final two days of Royal Ascot. The Ballydoyle stable jockey is not contesting the stewards' decision, merely the penalty. Seb Sanders was found guilty of a similar offence for his winning ride on Seeking The Buck in the Investec Challenge and was banned for three days (June 21-23). He is to appeal the suspension and penalty. The appeal dates have yet to be arranged.
