Musaddas gives Greatrex big pot Apprentice Edward Greatrex enjoyed his finest hour when steering Godolphin's Musaddas to victory in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot. Son of jumps trainer Warren Greatrex, the 5lb claimer had the Saeed bin Suroor-trained bottom weight smartly out of the stalls from his draw on the far side. Musaddas (7-1) was soon at the head of affairs and got into a good rhythm for his young rider. He pulled away in the final furlong to win readily from Gm Hopkins with Master The World third and Donncha fourth. Greatrex said: "I'm very thankful to get the opportunity to ride for Godolphin and be part of the operation. "We thought we'd give him a kick and see if we could get a decent lead and no one really took us on. "He worked up through the gears and stuck his neck out. "To be part of such a brilliant day is unreal."
