Namhroodah's homework faces scrutiny

James Tate is keeping his fingers crossed Namhroodah can transfer her homework to the track in the Tweenhills Stallions Pretty Polly Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket tomorrow.

After making a winning debut at Kempton last November on her only appearance to date, the three-year-old is to be given a test of her credentials in the mile-and-a-quarter Listed contest.

The race has been a key Oaks trial recently, with the winners of the last two renewals, Talent and Taghrooda, going on to victory in the fillies' Classic at Epsom.

Although this will mark Namhroodah's first start of the campaign, the daughter of Sea The Stars, who will be ridden by Ryan Moore, has already made a visit to the track, in a racecourse gallop over a mile last month.

Tate said: "What she has done on form, she has a mountain to climb. But what she has done at home, and in the racecourse gallop she had, she could be in the mix. We really like the filly, now she has to go and do it.

"She was a backward filly and we never thought we would run her last year, but she put in a couple of nice bits of work and we decided to give her one run at Kempton. She was running all over the track that day and we put her away with this race in mind for her.

"The fillies have taken a bit of time to come to hand this spring and we felt she would learn more in a racecourse gallop rather than go for a handicap somewhere. She had a good blow after that, has tightened up and is fit and ready to go.

"I could not be any more happier with her. We have got the right man in the plate, so let's hope we can still dream big after 4.50pm."

While Namhroodah will be out to defend her unbeaten status, the Clive Brittain-trained Teosroyal will bid to open her account at the fourth time of asking.

The daughter of Teofilo put in her best performance to date on her most recent outing when chasing home the impressive Very Special in a mile conditions race at Kempton in April.

Brittain said: "Teosroyal is in very good form and I am happy to run her. She had a very good workout earlier in the week when William Buick rode her. He was quite impressed with her and we are going there with more than just a wing and a prayer."

The Aga Khan has a rare runner in England with the Dermot Weld-trained Zannda making the trip across the Irish Sea, while Ralph Beckett will be looking for Forte to follow in the hoofprints of Talent.

In-form handler John Gosden is to be represented by Kempton maiden scorer Jazzi Top, while Saeed bin Suroor sends out Fillies' Mile third Winters Moon. The 11-runner field is completed by Amaze Me, Anarchiste, Banzari, Lulani and Nadder.
