National News

Well-known Northern Irish punter, Mike Futter was in the news today in the wake of the publication of the weights for the Martell Cognac Grand National last Monday.

Yesterday, the influential Racing Post column, Pricewise, highlighted Futter's Monty's Pass as a value option for the April 5th spectacular at 40/1. Subsequent to that, the owner claimed to stand to win 780,000 pounds in a series of bets if the Jimmy Mangan-trained gelding were to triumph at Aintree.

The ten-year-old has been allocated 10-5 for the four and a half mile marathon and with top-weight, Marlborough suggested as a likely participant, there may not be much change to the original handicap.
