Nauticus wins Musidora for Moore & Stoute Liber Nauticus (4/6 fav) teed herself up for a tilt at the Oaks with victory in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York. Sir Michael Stoute's filly had impressed seasoned racegoers when winning her sole career start at Goodwood as a two year old and she didn't disappoint on her seasonal reappearance in this 10 furlong Group Three. A powerfully built filly, she was held up in rear by Ryan Moore but moved purposefully and easily to the head of affairs in the straight. She had to see off two strong challenges, first from Woodland Aria and secondly from the more experienced Romantic Settings but she proved more than man enough for the task; running on strongly to score by a length and a half. Moore said of the Ballymacoll Stud owned filly: "I was very happy with her because she doesn't actually do a lot. She only does enough, so I was very happy. Hopefully she'll get better as she gets older." Liber Nauticus was left unchanged for the Epsom Classic at 5/1 by Sky Bet.
