A good crowd is expected at Navan today where the ground is officially Heavy. Its overcast at the moment, but its a crisp, cle ar day - perfect for jumps racing.

Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards have granted permission for fences 7 & 8 to be omitted in both chases in the interests of sefety.

The opening beginners chase has been reduced by two runners. Noel Meade has withdrawn the injured Back To Bid, while The Hardy Snipe was reported stiff by his trainer.

Scott Dove (coughing) is a non-runner in the 2m 6f handicap hurdle, while Shaway is also withdrawn due to a family bereavement.

Iggy Madden has reported Castle Isle coughing and taken him out of the handicap chase.

********** Having suffered a fall at Fairyhouse yesterday and hurt his left ring finger,Paul Carberry has stood himself down for the fifth and sixth races today.

His finger was strapped before racing, but still caused him pain while guiding Orbit O?Gold to victory in the Christmas Hurdle. He will be going for an X-ray later today to determine the extent of the damage to his finger. Updates to appear on this website as they become available.

Gary Hutchinson deputises for the injured Carberry on Rock´n Laura in the handicap hurdle, while John Cullen is the replacement on Braun Star.
