Ireland has just the one meeting on Wednesday and it’s a seven-race Flat card at Navan. The going is officially described as soft on the straight course and soft, heavy in places on the round course at the time of writing.

We have four fascinating maidens to look forward to, as well as some competitive handicap action, and we have you covered. Here we take a look at an owner, trainer and jockey to follow across the card who could be in for a successful day.

Owner - Joanne Lavery

Joanne Lavery is represented by two runners on this card, the first of which is the lightly raced Kayamite in the second race, a 6f handicap. She has only had six starts to date and it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of her so far.

The daughter of Dandy Man produced a couple of solid enough displays in maiden company at Dundalk last December and wasn’t beaten too far at Cork in handicap company, despite finishing seventh of eight. Now on an 8lb lower mark, don’t write her off just yet.

Platino Bianco has really struggled for most of the season but ran much better to finish third in a handicap here earlier this month.

A similar display might be enough to make the frame once again, as this is a weak maiden, although the return to 5f isn’t guaranteed to suit.

Trainer - Chris Timmons

Chris Timmons is the Flat trainer with the second-best strike-rate at Navan so far this year, with his 16 runners yielding four winners. That 25 per cent strike-rate is bettered only by Aidan O’Brien and Timmons is set to send four runners on Wednesday.

The stats tell us that one of those four runners could be a winner and last time out winner Step Back In Time appears to be the most likely candidate. A regular visitor to the track, she has run here 11 times and has four course victories to her name. Royal Cave needs one to come out in order to get a run and he’s lightly raced enough in this sphere to suggest there could be more to come, although improvement will be required.

Kayamite and Platino Bianco both have outside chances of making the frame.

Jockey - Dylan Browne McMonagle

Dylan Browne McMonagle currently sits at the top of the Irish Flat Jockeys’ Championship and has an eight-winner buffer between himself and Colin Keane.

He will undoubtedly be keen to hit the three-figure mark as soon as possible and hold off Keane.

McMonagle has six rides at Navan and one of his best chances is the Joseph O’Brien-trained Ennoble.

He was less than a length away from getting off the mark over this trip at Cork last time out and he’s very closely matched with Bad Boy Rizz. Serotonin finished second by a narrow margin in a Tramore claimer back in July and it was a decent effort when in a Sligo handicap last time out.

The handicapper has dropped him another pound since and he should be very competitive.
