All in attendance at Ballinrobe last night and indeed those looking in were concerned for the welfare of Marc Byrne and Gwen Daly following the heavy falls they suffered in the concluding bumper.

Today Turf Club Doctor Adrian McGoldrick issued the following update on Gwen Daly: "She was transferred (from Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar) overnight to the spinal unit in the Mater Hospital for further investigation. At the moment (12 noon) I have no update on Marc Byrne."

Byrne, riding for his partner, Sharon Dunphy, got unseated from Callthebigladjimmy (stumbled) under three furlongs out in the ballinroberacecourse.ie INH Flat Race and Daly (herself a medical doctor) following behind aboard her husband Alan's Star Of Boru, was brought down.

Reports on Marc Byrne after lunch suggested that he was released from hospital but suffering with a sore leg and neck he was readmitted today.

Tonight (Wednesday) Sharon Dunphy gave an update on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/irishracing.com), saying "Gwen transeffered 2 the spinal unit in the mater at 2am. hopefully she will be ok she took a heavy fall. mark released but brought back into wexford 2day with suspected broken bone in his neck...transferred 2 waterford 2 orthopedic dept 2nt."
