No Killarney trip for Simonsig Nicky Henderson is considering running Simonsig on the Flat after the Seven Barrows handler abandoned plans to send the long-absent grey to Killarney on Monday. The nine-year-old was in contention for the Laurels Pub & Restaurant Hurdle over two and a half miles, but the race has come "a fortnight too soon". Simonsig was last seen winning the Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2013 but a splint injury caused him to miss the 2013-14 season. Several setbacks since then thwarted Henderson's plans to bring him back during the last campaign, but he could soon reappear on the level. "He worked (on Saturday morning) with Forgotten Voice, but Killarney has just come a fortnight too soon," said Henderson. "It's a pity, as there's nothing for these sort of horses in England. Even in the middle of winter he'd still have to carry top weight in a handicap or run in a Grade One. "He wants more than a mile and a half on the Flat, but there are virtually no Flat races for him here. "He could easily go to France, but we need to have a think."
