No excuse for Anibale flop Nothing has come to light to explain the poor performance of the JP McManus-owned Anibale Fly in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on St Stephen's Day. The Tony Martin-trained six-year-old was sent off the 3-1 favourite for the Grade One over three miles but did not seem to enjoy himself and was eventually pulled up. "Maybe he frightened himself over the first couple of fences," said McManus' racing manager Frank Berry. "He never performed and maybe the ground was quick enough for him there. "There's nothing you can put your finger on."
