David Nolan was banned for 10 days by the Ripon stewards after being found guilty of dropping his hands.

He was aboard 7/2 joint-favourite Petrol in the Eura Audit UK Selling Handicap and seemed to have the race at his mercy a furlong out.

Nolan appeared to ease up on his mount in the closing stages, only to see Chankillo finishing with a flourish down the outside.

The rider tried to kick on again in the dying strides but Petrol could not pick up, eventually being beaten a neck.

The stewards found Nolan guilty under Rule (B)59.4, deciding that he was 'guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing in that he failed to ride out on a horse that could have finished first' and suspended him from June 19-29, excluding June 23.
