O`Brien swerves Ascot

Aidan O'Brien will not have a runner at Ascot on Saturday as he has elected to look at the Curragh's Meld Stakes with Bach or Della Francesca.

The champion trainer said at Naas tonight that he had decided to concentrate on the Curragh on Saturday having watched Greast Pyramid make a promising though unsuccessful debut in what looked a classy juvenile maiden.

'They looked two smart juveniles and as I said beforehand, Great Pyramid will come on a lot for the run and the experience of the race,' he said after watching Rock of Gibraltar's younger brother go down narrowly to Jim Bolger's newcomer Danaskaya.

Both sired by Danehill, the market principles went clear from halfway and Kevin Manning was always looking more likely to score on the well backed second favourite than Michael Kinane.

Kinane had earlier scored a bloodless victory on the favourite Keeper's Hill for Curragh trainer Michael Halford in the opening sprint maiden.
