O'Brien Appeals Music Box Suspension Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Dundalk stewards to suspend his horse Music Box from running for 42 days following a race at the Co. Louth track last Friday. Music Box ridden by Wayne Lordan finished strongly on her debut in a maiden at the course last week when taking third place behind stablemate Asking. Lordan and O'Brien fell foul of the new Turf Club rule 212 - the non-trier rule. Lordan was handed a 5-day suspension and ordered to forfeit his riding fee, O'Brien was fined €2,000 and the horse was given a 42-day suspension. All the penalties have been appealed and the hearing is set to take place within the next week. This is the eighth similar case since Rule 212 was amended in January. Three have so far been appealed but only one has been partially successful. Trainer Matthew Smith had his fine of €2,000 cancelled but his horse, Theturnofthesun, remains suspended as does his rider Andrew Lynch.
