O'Brien and Browne McMonagle complete Limerick doubles Jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle and trainer Joseph O’Brien combined for Limerick doubles today, as first-time tongue-tied Evening Blossom (6/1 - 7/2) landed the Great National South Court Hotel Handicap. The 88-rated daughter of Australia won consecutive races last summer and today scored a battling half-length win from Fort Vega, with third-placed Lord Church catching the eye on seasonal reappearance. Browne McMonagle, earlier successful on O’Brien’s opening-race winner Wannabe Royal, reported “Evening Blossom is very straightforward and is very tough. She had a really good run the last day when she got tired early, so I thought she would come forward a lot from it. She definitely has and while she wasn’t madly in love with the ground, was tough at the business end. “She has always worked well and the tongue-tie might have improved her. She has a great temperament so hopefully can keep improving through the grades.”
