Experienced Luna Mia (9/4f) landed Naas’s opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden today, scoring for owner Eleanore Kennedy, trainer Michael O’Callaghan and champion jockey Colin Keane.

Placed fourth in the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes in June from five previous runs, the 82-rated daughter of Ardad today made most of the running and held on well to score by a half-length from Tornado Kiss

O’Callaghan commented “Luna Mia is a nice filly and delighted to get her head in front. She’s been threatening to do that all year, and we didn’t think it would take that long to win her maiden.

“Ground is key to her and Colin (Keane) said that’s the best she has felt today. She travelled as far as he wanted her on the bridle, and he thought that she idled a bit when she got there. She was fourth in a Group 2 so now it’s time to try and get a bit of black type.”
