Conor O’Dwyer has decided to appeal the decision of the Dundalk stewards last Friday to disqualify Trump Card.

The five-year-old gelding edged right inside the final furlong when beating the Thomas Sherry-ridden Specific Gravity by a head in the BK Forklifts Handicap.

The stewards found that Billy Lee’s mount had caused interference and reversed the places of the first two with the Ado McGuinness-trained veteran awarded the race.

The decision was considered very marginal by many observers, and O’Dwyer has decided to appeal after giving the matter some thought.

Trump Card won twice for the Curragh trainer last year including over the same mile and a half on the Polytrack.
