O'Leary on the mark at Carlisle Newcomer Threeways landed a gamble in the bumper at Carlisle this afternoon, the Grand Slam Of Darts At 188Bet Standard Open NH Flat Race, scoring under Dougie Costello for Co Clare trainer Ronnie O'Leary. Available at 5/2 in the morning the four-year-old son of Flemensfirth opened on-course at 7/4, touching 2's before going off the 7/4 joint-favourite. Having chased the leaders throughout he improved to the front three furlongs from home, and while he was strongly challenged over a furlong out he kept on well in the closing stages to score by two lengths. Dante's Way, who won a bumper at Kelso in May, was the other joint-favourite and he was another fourteen lengths back in third. The winner, who is also owned by O'Leary, cost E26,000 at Goffs in June of last year.
