O'Neill making progress Amatuer jockey Hugh O’Neill is reported to be doing well having suffered a heavy fall at Loughrea point to point on October 17. O’Neill and his mount Jetgalivan crashed out at the second fence in a winners’ of two race leaving Co Clare based O’Neill with head and upper body injuries. Speaking on Monday morning, his father Mike O’Neill , a popular on-course bookmaker, stated “Hugh is doing really well and although he has had his problems, the overall picture is looking good.” “Hugh has to wear a halo for 12 weeks and while he in generally in good form, sleeping is very difficult for him which can leave him quite tired. The reports for the doctors are positive though.”
