The 4/7 favourite Douglas DC was another winner for Gordon Elliott in the four-year-old maiden hurdle.

Placed in his first two starts over hurdles, the Zoffany gelding tracked Igraine throughout and was pushed along by Jack Kennedy on the downhill run to two out.

He swept past the leader between the final two flights and went on to score by five and a half lengths. Igraine finished a further three and three quarter lengths ahead of third home Evenwood Sonofagun

Elliott had been finding winners a little hard to come by since Cheltenham but a double at Ballinrobe’s first meeting of the year on Friday preceded a Grade 1 brace for at Aintree a day later.

"He’s been knocking on the door," said Kennedy.

"He jumped a bit better today and just made a few little mistakes. He’s done it well and will be a grand horse throughout the summer.”
