Olden Times set to return for Eclipse

Olden Times is set to have his next run in the Coral Eurobet Eclipse Stakes at Sandown a week on Saturday.

John Dunlop`s consistent four-year-old finished a fine third on his seasonal reappearance in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and fast ground is likely to tempt connections to tackle the #325,000 Esher prize.

'If the ground is to Olden Times` liking, I would have thought that he will run at Sandown,' Marcus Hosgood, racing secretary to the trainer, said today.

'He`s come out of the Lockinge very well and trained satisfactorily since.

'We wanted to run him at Royal Ascot but the ground wasn`t ideal - let`s hope for some fast ground for the Eclipse.'

The Darshaan colt has been campaigned over a mile on his last four outings although his finest hour came in the Group One Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly over nine furlongs last season.

And asked if the four-year-old would improve for this step up to ten furlongs, Hosgood said: 'That`s a good question - let`s waitand find out!

'We would prefer a straight galloping track but I think the uphill finish will suit him.'

Olden Times also won the Feilden Stakes as a three-year-old, as well as finishing third to Black Minnaloushe in the St James`s Palace Stakes.
