Recent Czechia heroes trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Keith Donoghue combined to win for new Romanian owner Vasile Ionesi today, completing doubles with Ole Ole (11/4) in Galway's Supermac's Rated Novice Hurdle.

Cromwell and Donoghue had gained consecutive annual wins in Czechia's world famous Velka Pardubicka Steeplechase on October 11, with Final Orders following up last year's success of stablemate Stumptown, and today, having scored with Simply Natural , the pair doubled up with Ole Ole.

Held up in the five runner race, Ole Ole improved to lead at the last and held on well to score by 1.75 lengths from Harpy Eagle .

Cromwell reported “it was a tactical type of race, they went steady and then got racing early enough. He was brave in the finish and it was nice to get another win with him. He is a young horse, has plenty of size and scope and has a good attitude.

“Vasile (Ionesi) is a lovely guy, from Romania, and has been in Ireland for years. He is a builder and this is his first horse with us, so he has been lucky.”
