Open Eagle bidding for first jumping win Last year's stunning November Handicap winner Open Eagle bids to get his jumping career up and running at Fairyhouse on Wednesday. The six-year-old was a 12-length winner of the traditional end-of-season highlight at Doncaster little over a year ago when trained by David O'Meara and was swiftly snapped up by the Supreme Horse Racing Club and sent to Willie Mullins. The son of Montjeu was an odds-on favourite to make a winning start for his new connections at Punchestown at the start of February and although he was slightly disappointing in finishing third, the club's racing manager Steve Massey is excited about the new campaign. He said: "We're delighted to have Open Eagle back in action and we're very much looking forward to seeing him run. "He ran well enough on his only start for us last season. Having bought him last November after a long year on the Flat, we think the summer break has done him the power of good. "He's a high-profile horse for the club after what he did at Doncaster last year and we're hoping he can kickstart his career over hurdles." Open Eagle is set to face 15 rivals over two miles in the opening Christmas Parties At Fairyhouse December 19th Maiden Hurdle. His opponents include the 120-rated Investmentsuccess, 2014 Champion Bumper third Joshua Lane and point-to-point winner Double Island.
