PUNCHESTOWN WARM UP FOR NH FESTIVAL

Officials at Punchestown racecourse are considering an incentive scheme to attract overseas runners to their Festival meeting which gets underway at the end of April, it was revealed today.

The prestigious five-day fixture, which stretches from April 29 to May 3, has always proved popular with British raiders and any incentive would only serve to increase the number of runners from the UK.

'We are hoping to get some incentives but we don`t know what they will be yet,' said racecourse manager Richie Galway. 'It is being considered and it will be finalised very shortly. There is no figure at present.

'The aim is to attract the better horses and the majority of races at Cheltenham will come into it.'
