Pampar Lady completes hat-trick under Staples The progressive Pampar Lady completed a hat-trick in the Bloom Feeds Irish EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle. The Gavin Cromwell-trained six-year-old registered a first career win on her 18th start at Cork early last month and subsequently followed-up at Kilbeggan. Up to a mark of 111, the 15/2 chance was given a patient ride by Eoin Staples, making steady headway on the final circuit. Coming with her effort from two out, the Wash Yer Hands Syndicate-owned bay was slightly impeded there and while not fluent at the final flight, she dug deep when ridden in the closing stages, getting up to prevail by a neck. A sister to Nick Rockett, Music Of Life (20/1) was the one just denied, with Ballycashin (12/1) just a head further back in third. Well-supported from 22s in early shows into 5/1 favouritism, Hay Baby finished nine-lengths away in fourth. "She has tended to over-race before but today they went a right good gallop and I was able to settle early," Staples, who registered a double on Downpatrick on Friday, reflected. "She can jump better but she got away with it today. When I needed her at the back of the last she put down her head and galloped to the line. "I'm getting unbelievable chances and I can't thank the lads enough, I'm delighted." STEWARDS REPORTS * The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. P. Hassett, that Kevin A Murphy, rider of Willuhaveamineral, had presented to weigh out at 4lbs overweight, none of which had been declared at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his scales weren't accurate at home and that he had been out injured for the last few months. He further added that he went to the sauna this morning and ran the track but it was too late. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Kevin A Murphy was in breach of Rule 198(vii)(a) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they fined him E100 on this occasion. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards granted a request from Michael Winters to substitute the nominated rider with G.B. Noonan. * Sam Ewing, rider of Hay Baby, trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped a heel. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted. * Daniel King, rider of Kilashee, trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount became unbalanced for a stride causing him to be unseated despite his best efforts.
