Pat Eddery's funeral to take place tomorrow The funeral service of Pat Eddery will take place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Thame, at 11am on Tuesday before a private cremation in Oxford. Eddery, who was crowned champion jockey in the UK on 11 occasions, died on November 10 at the age of 63. Organisers have confirmed members of the general public are welcome to stand outside the church while the service is taking place but will not be allowed inside due to restricted numbers. Only two reporters and photographers will be allowed inside the building during the service, although there is no restriction on those outside. Eddery amassed more than 4,600 winners in a 35-year career, a total bettered only by Sir Gordon Richards in Britain. His tally included 14 British Classic triumphs and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe four times, most famously with Dancing Brave in 1986. He also won the Irish Derby on four occasions. He retired from the saddle in 2003 and became a trainer, with the highlight being the victory of Hearts Of Fire in a Group One in Italy in 2009. He was awarded an OBE in 2005.
