One of just two four-year-old's in the line-up, the Willie McCreery-trained Germanese came out on top in the CPAC Modular Maiden.

Fifth of eighth on her sole previous start over five furlongs at Tipperary in October, the Billy Lee-ridden victor was sent off a 10/1 chance (touched 20s early).

Settled in mid-division and eighth entering the straight, the Night Of Thunder chestnut soon made smooth headway on the inner and went third with over a furlong to go.

Angled out to challenge inside the final 200 yards, the E110,000 Goffs Orby Sale purchase just needed to be nudged out in the closing stages to get by Knockmark (6/1), with half-a-length between them at the line.

From 7/2 in early shows, Poweracclaim was returned the 11/8 favourite and he faded inside the final furlong, finishing three-and-three-quarters of a length off the front pair in third.

"The owners have been very patient, and it has paid off. Billy gave her a lovely patient ride and gave her a chance," McCreery reflected.

"I think she probably wants six (furlongs) myself but the seven suited today being a four-year-old and getting her back started. She just got up on the line and didn't get too hard a race.

"I'm delighted for Michael and Dymphna Deegan (of the Deegan Racing Syndicate) who are great supporters of mine. The last winner I had for them was Insinuendo.”

STEWARDS REPORTS
