Paved Paradise caused a 40/1 upset to win the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk this evening, scoring for trainer Eddie Harty and jockey Mark Gallagher.

The daughter of Lord Shanakill was well held on each of her previous four starts but today made a winning handicap debut, from a rating of 50, when beating Latchey by half a length.

Harty later said “we've always thought a bit of her but she's had little bits of setbacks here and there.

“I thought the handicapper gave her a chance but you never know up here whether they'll handle the surface or not. That was the only doubt I had and she was 40/1 but that's not her fault.

“She had run well in a couple of maidens and is a good honest filly.

“She's in the mares' sale but I don't know if she'll go there or what we'll do with her. I think she could be a cracking filly for next year and we could have a bit of fun with her. It's nice to get one.”
