Payment Required for Irish Coverage The Racing Channel and Attheraces will now have to pay for the right to show Irish racing after a decision taken by a meeting of the Media Rights Committee of Horse Racing Ireland last Friday.Since May both stations have been able to show racing from here without charge but this arrangement is up at the end of the year.Chief Executive of the governing body, Brian Kavanagh wants to see an upfront payment for the product instead of the percentage of betting turnover that was offered. Failing this, Irish racing will no longer feature on either channel. However both are thought likely to make a new offer shortly.
