Pendleton unscathed after 'point' mishap Victoria Pendleton emerged unscathed after her mount Vesperal Dream went through the wing of a fence in the ladies' open at the Hursley Hambledon point-to-point fixture at Larkhill in Wiltshire. The dual Olympic cycling gold medallist was enjoying the ride on her own horse, trained by Alan Hill, in the search for a first point-to-point winner when they made a premature exit around halfway through the three-mile contest. "They had a run-out through the wing, it was one those novicey things, but horse and rider are both OK," said Hill's wife, Lawney. "They live to fight another day. It was just a bit of a miscommunication between jockey and horse. "She was going beautifully and had jumped beautifully, so there were no problems as such. It was just a novicey error." It was Pendleton's first mount of the new season following the last campaign in which she rode Pacha Du Polder to victory in a hunter chase at Wincanton and finished fifth on the same horse in the Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
