Pietropaolo strikes again on Benavente Hot off the heels of a double at Punchestown on Tuesday Julian Pietropaolo was back in the winners’ enclosure tonight at Dundalk when partnering Benavente to success in the apprentice handicap. Kevin Coleman’s charge had last won in February 2024 and went to post a 14/1 shot in tonight’s mile-and-a-half contest. He was produced to challenge in the straight by Pietropaolo and led a furlong-and-a-half out to record a length-and-three-quarters win over Ozark Daze. “It’s going well. That’s my third winner this week and I’m very pleased how things are going,” said the winning jockey afterwards. “It makes life a lot easier when you get on horses as nice as him. This is only my second ride for Kevin, he was very straightforward with instructions and very easy to ride for. I can’t thank him enough for it. “Hopefully now things start to pick up. I’m very pleased with how things are going at the moment and I hope that I can keep improving for the rest of the year and we’ll see how things go from there.”
