The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Kevin Thomas Coleman, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Benavente (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Kevin Thomas Coleman stated that his charge had previously shown very good form around here but had lost it's way. He further stated that a drop in the weights had made him competitive along with the extended trip and felt that the combination of these factors had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form today. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Frank Pickle, trained by Mrs Denise Foster, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
An extended handicap for four years old and upwards (80 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won. Riders - Apprentices who hold an Apprentice Licence under Rules of Racing issued by any recognised Turf Authority and who have not lost the right to claim the 5lb allowance (65 winners). Allowances - (up to and including 15th September and which are not cumulative) Apprentices who have not ridden 10 *winners allowed..........7lb; Apprentices who have not ridden 20 *winners allowed..........4lb; Apprentices who have not ridden 30 *winners allowed..........2lb. *Including races under any N.H. Rules.
