Pillar Target For Abbey

Grey Abbey is having a break before bidding for back-to-back victories in the Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham in January.

The 11-year-old has been given a holiday following problems with his glands after being pulled up in the Charlie Hall Chase last month.

Grey Abbey won the Grade Two contest at Wetherby the previous October before going straight on to the Pillar.

Trainer Howard Johnson said: 'Grey Abbey definitely won´t be going to Haydock for the Betfair Chase on Saturday week.

'He won´t run until the Pillar Chase at Cheltenham in January. He´s going down the same route as last time.

'Although he was beaten in the Charlie Hall, he was out of sorts.

'His glands were up when he came back so he´ll have a break.'
