Pique Sous pleases connections Connections of Pique Sous are hopeful he can still book his place on All-Weather Championships Finals Day following a creditable effort in defeat at Chelmsford on Thursday. Winner of the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot three years ago, the Supreme Horse Racing Club-owned grey has suffered his fair share of problems since. The 10-year-old finished down the field on his first start in eight months at Dundalk last month and was back in action less than a fortnight later in Essex as he aimed to gain a free and automatic place in the £150,000 Betway Marathon at Lingfield on Good Friday. While he came up short, Pique Sous was far from disgraced in finishing third and trainer Willie Mullins will be looking for another opportunity in the next few weeks to try and qualify him for the big day. Steve Massey, racing manager for the owners, said: "We were delighted with his run and we think there's still some improvement in him fitness-wise. "We will try and find another race on the all-weather to qualify him for Good Friday. "There aren't too many options, so we may have to drop him back in trip."
