Currently the course is raceable underneath the frost covers but another cold night is forecast in Sussex. Saturday night saw temperatures dip as low as -4C and it is set to get to -3C on Sunday night. The worry might be if temperatures rise quickly enough if the ground freezes, with a maximum of only 2C forecast. Clerk of the course Graeme Anderson called the check due to expected freezing temperatures overnight. The track is currently covered and underneath the going is described as heavy, soft in places. While it is expected to be as cold as -3C overnight, daytime temperatures could get as high as 6C giving officials plenty of hope.
