Power hangs on to secure another Dundalk win The Keith Clarke-trained Albion Power just held on to secure victory in the second division of the mile handicap at Dundalk. The 25/1 shot hit the front over a furlong-and-a-half from home, under Luke McAteer, but was strongly pressed going to the furlong marker. The Slade Power gelding drifted slightly under pressure but just had enough in the tank late on to hold the finish of Auburn Avenue by a nose. It was a second career win for the four-year-old who had also won here, over seven furlongs, back in February. The winning trainer was leading up and McAteer said: "I'd advised stepping him up in trip that night (Dundalk in November last year) but, for one reason or another, I couldn't get back on him. "Adam (Caffrey) normally rides him but he was riding for Ado (McGuinness, No More Porter), so it is nice the way it worked out. "He was (tough), I kept the revs up and I battled off the horse on my inside and the one that came late probably just blindsided him. He stuck at it and he was in front where it mattered. "I haven't ridden an awful lot for Keith, but he seems to be a great fella to ride for and I'm delighted for him. It is great to get a winner for another trainer." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
