Preview of McCoy's Plumpton Mounts Plumpton sense they could share in a slice of racing history on Monday when Tony McCoy takes centre stage in his bid to achieve 3,000 British and Irish National Hunt winners. The 13-times champion jockey has been frustratingly placed on the 2,998 mark since partnering Stradbrook to victory Wincanton on January 29. However, he has four booked rides at the Sussex venue - Excape (1.30), Miss Sarenne (3.45) and Restless D'Artaix (4.20) for leading trainer Nicky Henderson while local handler Jim Best has snapped him up for Hello Moscow (3.10). Extreme weather conditions have played a major part in halting McCoy's quest, but even when racing has gone ahead he has not had the right ammunition to fire him over the finishing line. Out of luck at Kempton on Saturday and with no jumps fixtures beating the bleak winter on Sunday, McCoy trusts his luck to Plumpton where officials are understandably excited at the prospect. "It should be great. There's been a lot of interest in this from the press and there should be a lot of people picking up the phone to book tickets and turning up at the gates to pay at the turnstiles," said clerk of the course Mark Cornford. "He's got four reasonable rides - three for Nicky Henderson and one for a local boy, Jim Best. "It looks good. For a little old track like us this could be marvellous." Henderson is just pleased to have the chance to run some of his horses. "I didn't plan on having runners but I have changed my mind," he said. "The ground will be horrible but I can't see anywhere this week that won't have heavy ground if they manage to race. "The forecast doesn't look too good for this week either so I have decided to run a few and see how they get on, but none of them have raced so far this year." Best is hopeful of a good run from Hello Moscow in the Chris Poole And George Ennor Memorial Handicap Chase. "It would be fantastic if he did it on our horse. Hello Moscow has been consistent this season with two placings," said the Lewes trainer. "He's in good form and hopefully he'll run well."
