Problems with truck blamed for Tipp 'blackout' A problem with an up-link truck has been blamed for the absence of pictures from Tipperary racecourse today with none of the seven races broadcast on television screens or betting offices. The seven race jumps card was not shown live apart from on-course, where IRIS carried the pictures and racecourse manager Andrew Hogan stated “there was some trouble with the up-link van. I got a call earlier to say they’d be here at three o’clock and I’ve got a call since to say they won’t be here at all. “I don’t know what the problem was - it was unspecified trouble with the van. I got the phone call before the first race and then again got another call at three o’clock - financially it is outside our control as we provided the pictures.” Darren Lawlor, commercial broadcast manager for HRI, also commented “there was a problem with the satellite uplink truck. It was scheduled to be at Tipperary today but there was a problem mid-morning. I do not know what exactly happened. We thought it would get there by 3pm but there was a further problem and unfortunately and it did not make it to Tipperary at all." By Tom Weekes
