The Gerard Keane-trained Profit Surge (9/4) was a deserved winner of the 1xBet Irish Racing Partnership Optional Claiming Race for jockey Colin Keane. Having been second and third eight times in her career, the consistent daughter of Profitable was good and tough under a prominent ride from Keane and kept the fast-finishing Mark Fahey-trained Mo Anam Chara at bay to record her first success.

Speaking after the race, rider Colin Keane said:

"She deserved that. She's very consistent without winning. We thought she'd have done her job in the winter when we started with her first. It wasn't fair because she was creeping up the whole time for running well. The handicapper kinda kept putting her up. Maybe he was right to. Back into claiming company you can kind of excuse the ratings some days. She's very straightforward, she jumps and travels and suits a track like this."
