Punchestown Festival To Add Extra Incentives

Punchestown officials are considering introducing an incentive scheme to lure overseas runner to their April Festival this year.

The highlight of the Irish racing year always attracts top British raiders so any extra incentives would only serve to increase the number of runners from across the water.

'We are hoping to get some incentives but we don`t know what they will be yet,' said racecourse manager Richie Galway.

'It is being considered and it will be finalised very shortly. There is no figure at present. The aim is to attract the better horses and the majority of races at Cheltenham will come into it.'
