Punchestown To Safeguard Festival Ground

Racing at Punchestown this Sunday will take place on the inside track and finishing on the centre of the racecourse in order to preserve the ground for the National Hunt Festival.

There is a restricted programme on Sunday featuring six hurdle races. The first goes to post at 3pm.

Racecourse manager Dick O`Sullivan said: 'It is vital that no chances are taken with the festival fast approaching and I hope that everyone will understand the reason to race on the inside of the track.

'We have rested the festival ground throughout the winter and have now taken the opportunity to rebuild our steeplechase fences prior to the festival.

'We are intent on maintaining the festival ground in the excellent condition it is in at present. It is in everyone`s interest that the festival is a huge success this year.'

This years festival runs for five days, commencing on Tuesday 29th April and finishing on the following Saturday 3rd May.
