Punchestown confident of racing on Sunday Officials at Punchestown are confident Sunday's high-profile fixture will go ahead as scheduled. Corks's meeting on the same afternoon, due to feature the Hilly Way Chase, was cancelled before declaration time on Friday morning after the course was found to be flooded. Conditions are set to be very testing further north at Punchestown, but racing manager Richie Galway is confident the weather poses no threat to racing . He said: " The ground is heavy, but we're perfectly raceable. We'll monitor things for the next 24 hours or so, but we should be fine. "The track is in very good condition considering the amount of rain it's taken and it's a drying day today. "There is another band of rain coming in tonight and we could have a few showers on Saturday, but I expect the track to take what's coming without any problems. "We're forecast a dry day on Sunday and we're looking forward to a good day." Highlight on the card is the Grade One John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, won last year by Don Cossack.
