Qemah wins Group 1 Rothschild Qemah followed up last month's Royal Ascot victory with an authoritative success in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville. The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly ran out an impressive winner of the Coronation Stakes in Berkshire and was an 11-4 chance to claim her first Group One triumph on home turf. Gregory Benoist settled his mount as stable companion Positive Vibration played the role of pacemaker before predictably folding. Qemah quickened up well to lead in the final furlong and was well on top at the line, finishing ahead of Volta and Steip Amach in second and third. British and Irish raiders failed to make a significant impact. Last year's winner Amazing Maria ran with some credit for David O'Meara, finishing in midfield, but both Aidan O'Brien's Falmouth heroine Alice Springs and the Mark Johnston-trained Lumiere, who looked back to her best at Newmarket earlier in the month, were disappointing, with the latter dropping away tamely.
