Rajik to swerve Geoffrey Freer Galway winner Rajik looks set to miss the CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. Charlie Swan's versatile five-year-old won in gutsy fashion at Ballybrit last time out but looks set to swerve the Group Three contest with a stint back over timber a possibility. "I would say that he probably won't run." said Swan "He has come out of it well and I was just hoping that it wouldn't be as hot so we will probably give it a miss. "He could go to the Curragh in a week for a Listed race over a mile-and-six. "I always thought he would get any trip and he stays well so anywhere from a mile and half upwards would suit. "He probably prefers good ground but he seems to go on soft and firm, he's a great little horse. "If I don't run him in the Listed race then I could go hurdling with him as he is very well handicapped so we would probably give him another go at that." Sans Frontieres will bid to continue his recent resurgence in the race. The four-year-old looked destined for the top after his close third in the 2009 Dante Stakes at York but a subsequent injury meant he spent the best part of a year on the sidelines. He failed to sparkle on his first couple of races this term but a fine fourth behind Harbinger in the Hardwicke Stakes was followed by an impressive Newmarket success and trainer Jeremy Noseda has booked Johnny Murtagh for this weekend's ride. "Sans Frontieres heads for the Geoffrey Freer and Johnny Murtagh rides," the trainer told his website, www.jeremynoseda.com. "I have been happy with him since Newmarket and this has been the objective since then. "The 4lb penalty he has to carry makes things trickier for him but he is well and the trip should be within his range. "My only query at the moment is the ground as he likes good fast ground and the weather is very unsettled."
