Rakti Pleases In Racecourse Spin

Rakti is firmly on course for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes after pleasing connections in a racecourse spin at Lingfield.

Trainer Michael Jarvis sent the six-year-old over a mile at the Surrey track as part of his build up to the Group One event, sponsored by Barclays plc, at Newmarket on Saturday week.

Rakti won the mile race last year and he is now set to defend his title with the race having been transferred while Ascot undergoes redevelopment.

'He went nicely and we were very pleased with him,' said Jarvis.

'He was on his best behaviour and worked over a mile with a lead horse and it was all very satisfactory.

'He just had a normal blow and we are on track for the QEII.'

Rakti won the Lockinge Stakes in record time on his first start this season but he has not been seen since finishing second to Valixir in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot at York in June.

Jarvis sent the son of Polish Precedent to Lingfield not only for a spin on the racecourse but also as a reminder of the racetrack experience.

He added: 'He´s been doing plenty of work at home but it´s not the same as taking a trip to the races.'

Rakti is set to retire to Huma Park Stud in Ireland at the end of the season.
