Reaction from placed connections in Derby Karl Burke was delighted by the run of Dante winner, Libertarian, in the Derby at Epsom on Saturday. The York contest had not been thought to have been such a hot race this season on account of the proximity of the finishers to the winner but Burke and his wife, Elaine, have remained steadfast as to the belief in their colt and he rewarded their faith with a solid second place . Karl Burke said of their stable star: "He's a big unit but he's very athletic and I've never seen him lose his balance. "Once he started making ground I thought he might be fourth or fifth, but then he really got going inside the last furlong and with 50 yards to go I thought he might get second, although he was never going to win. "Stamina was never going to be an issue for him and why wouldn't we take on the winner again in the Irish Derby, the Curragh would be much more up his street but he will have to be supplemented." David Wachman was equally happy with third placed, Galileo Rock. The stoutly bred type was fancied at longer odds in a number of quarters and managed to make his way into the frame. The Irish trainer said: "He ran well, we always suspected he'd run a big race so I'm happy with that and he should step forward. "Wayne (Lordan) said he travelled well but was green when they straightened up and rolled around on the camber so he should improve. "He's like his three-parts brother (Saddler's Rock) - he stays very well and is a grand horse, I wish I had a few more like him. "He's in everything and we won't talk about anything until we see how he is."
