Robinson-Jarvis appeal dismissed

Jockey Philip Robinson and trainer Michael Jarvis today lost their appeal to the Jockey Club disciplinary against the result of a controversial race at Newbury.

The pair were unhappy that the local stewards found that interference from eventual winner Serotonin to their runner Shahzan House - who finished second, beaten a short-head, in the Alex Napier Classified Stakes on July 4 was accidental and that the result was allowed to stand.

Shahzan House was caught on the head by the whip of Richard Hughes on the winner close home, causing the Jarvis runner to falter, but the stewards decided that it had not affected the result.

Having considered evidence form Robinson, Jarvis and Hughes and seeing recordings of the race, the committee found that the interference was accidental and that it had not improved Serotonin`s placing.

However, Robinson`s deposit was returned.
